Charlotte's Shining Star exists to influence
the Government to change its age policy on cervical screening.

A group of like-minded people have come together because of the plight of a young woman in our community,

Charlotte Hughes, who is living with cervical cancer.

Charlotte slipped through the net of those regularly screened for cervical cancer
because of her age.

10th January 2011:

One of the objectives of The Charlotte's Shining Star Charity is to raise money for the Young Oncology Unit at The Christie in Manchester. This Unit is close to Charlotte's heart as it is the unit she has had most contact with during her many visits and stays in the hospital. Our Charity aims to organise a fund raising event at least once a quarter which range from Charity "Stars in their Eyes" nights to your straight forward "Can rattling" on the streets. We also have "friends of the Charity" who also undertake events on our behalf in order to raise money for the Christie. We greatly appereciate this support and welcome any ideas for future fund raising activities.

10th April 2011:

Charlotte's Shining Star: Cant Stand Still Walk of Hope Sunday 10th April

Meeting with Dr Chris Steele at opening event (The Christie) &ndash approx 170 people walked during this event from either The Christie and All Saints Park to Exchange Square in Manchester, carrying buckets, ITV where present, (link to Charlotte's interview...)

14th April 2011:

Radio interview North Manchester 106.6fm

Charlotte has a radio interview on the Community Show with Karen & Charlie, guests are Dr Chris Steele and Charlotte Hughes. Programme airs 2–4pm.

May 2011:

We have a team which will be running the BUPA Manchester run
